Innovating Preclinical Cancer Drug Development
We are innovating preclinical drug development pipelines through integration of our three innovation Platforms: well-defined Patient Cohorts, patient-derived Organoid models and Artificial Intelligence.
Our unique approach incorporates these human-relevant platform technologies into one integrated ecosystem, facilitating access for cancer drug developers.
By combining real-world oncology data with human-relevant lab models and the power of AI, we can better predict the effectiveness of candidate therapies for specific patient groups. This brings the patient into the preclinical development process earlier, de-risking and accelerating the development of personalized and effective therapies.

Patient Cohorts
The use of real-world and real-time data from well-defined Patient Cohorts increases the efficacy of the entire preclinical development process. It allows for identification of medical needs from clinical practice, helps to facilitate early validation, and increases the probability of the therapy being successful for selected patient groups. The Patient Cohorts Platform supports a range of well-defined cohorts for different cancer indications, as well as a National Platform for Early Clinical Studies, which utilizes adaptive study designs. This will enable faster patient recruitment for testing newly developed therapies within the Oncode Accelerator program and beyond. -
Organoids
Organoids are patient-derived tissue models that are useful for cancer research and therapy development. Our Organoids Platform develops and utilizes biobanks of organoid models derived from a wide variety of different cancer types, which link to associated clinical data. Organoids offer a unique opportunity to better understand the multicellular signaling networks and behaviors during disease. In this way, organoids allow drug developers to screen therapeutic candidates, evaluate their efficacy and safety, and identify patient populations most likely to benefit from therapy. -
Artificial Intelligence
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform develops, trains, and verifies AI tools which can be implemented throughout the preclinical development process. Applying these tools on clinically relevant datasets will help us to identify and optimize therapies, predict their efficacy and safety, and pinpoint potential patients for proof-of-concept studies. AI can help drug developers to exploit real-world and real-time sets of data for preclinical development of therapies.
Future-Proof Preclinical Drug Development
At Oncode Accelerator, we help individual drug developers to bring new therapies closer to patients. Simultaneously, we aim to innovate and improve the way that oncology therapies are developed.
Using new and cutting-edge technologies like those from our innovation Platforms can help scientists to develop better therapies, faster. However, new models, tools, and strategies do not always fit within existing regulatory pathways. For innovations to be used in therapy development, sometimes we also need to innovate in how they are regulated. Otherwise, promising discoveries may linger in the lab.
