The traditional cancer therapy development process is slow, risky, and often fails to predict what will work in real patients. At Oncode Accelerator, we are changing that by building an innovative and integrated approach to preclinical development.
Our approach combines state-of-the-art infrastructure with multidisciplinary expertise across preclinical development, spanning small molecules, biologics, cell and gene therapies, and therapeutic vaccines, representing our Workstreams. Through our innovation Platforms, we integrate our infrastructure with innovations such as patient-derived organoids and organ-on-a-chip technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and rich datasets from patient cohorts representing different adult and pediatric cancer indications.
Our innovative and integrated infrastructure can be accessed by drug developers worldwide through Demonstrator Projects. These are preclinical development projects that provide access to translational expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and technologies, and hands-on project coordination. We also co-fund up to €1.5 million of the project costs, helping teams generate critical translational evidence, reduce development risk, and reach key value inflection points.

De-risking Preclinical Development Across Four Cancer Therapy Modalities
Our program focuses on four preclinical oncology development pipelines which make up our Workstreams: Small Molecules, Biologics, Cell and Gene Therapies, and Therapeutic Vaccines. Within our Workstreams, we focus on what matters in early oncology drug development, with infrastructure and technology to facilitate hit finding, lead finding, target and lead validation, lead optimization, preclinical development and GMP readiness and upscaling.

Small Molecules
Small molecules play a crucial role in cancer therapy due to their targeted action, ease of administration, and adaptability in combination therapies. Their ability to overcome drug resistance and the historical success of small molecule therapies underscores their significance in oncology. -
Biologics
Antibodies and antibody-based therapeutics, including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), bispecific antibodies (bsAbs) and antibody-drug conjugations (ADCs), are powerful tools. While the diversity and complexity of tumors makes it difficult to develop effective drugs, the precision and engineering potential of antibodies makes them a powerful tool to direct the immune system to destroy cancer cells or deliver cytotoxic payloads with high specificity. -
Cell and Gene Therapy
Cell and gene therapy utilizes immune cells from patients or healthy donors, which undergo ex vivo processing or genetic modification so that they can better recognize and destroy cancer cells. By harnessing the power of the immune system and genetic modification, these therapies can target cancer cells with greater precision, thereby reducing side effects and improving patient outcomes. -
Therapeutic Vaccines
Therapeutic vaccines are an innovative approach to cancer immunotherapy that aim to instruct the patients’ immune system on what cancer cells 'look like,' so that the immune system can recognize and eliminate tumors. Ideally, therapeutic cancer vaccines not only induce tumor regression and eradicate minimal residual disease, but also establish anti-tumor memory to protect patients on a longer-term basis.
Demonstrator Projects are collaborative preclinical development projects that focus on one of these therapeutic modalities and run on our unique oncology infrastructure, with integration of one or more of our innovation Platforms.
Innovated Oncology Infrastructure
Our integrated oncology innovation Platforms, Artificial Intelligence, Organoids, and well-defined Patient Cohorts, provide access to translational expertise and key technologies for preclinical discovery and development of small molecules, biologics, cell and gene therapies, and therapeutic cancer vaccines. These Platforms accelerate and de-risk cancer therapy development, while our project-based co-funding eases financial burden.
Patient Cohorts
Access to well-characterized patient cohorts, longitudinal clinical data, patient material, and patient-derived models across multiple adult and pediatric oncology indications. These resources help generate translational evidence, improve decision-making, and de-risk development programs. Within Oncode Accelerator, we support and collaborate with patient cohorts across several different adult and pediatric oncology indications.
Organoids
Our organoid and organ-on-a-chip platforms help generate more predictive efficacy and safety data, supporting candidate selection, patient stratification, and the development of de-risked clinical programs.
Artificial Intelligence
Applying advanced AI tools on clinically relevant datasets can help to identify and optimize therapies, predict efficacy and safety, and pinpoint potential patients for proof-of-concept studies.
